WR clock tests according to G.8262 using SyncE tester.
added by Maciej Lipinski on 2015-02-26 18:09:09.918730
The tests were performed with Paragon-X, made available to CERN by Calnex, to compare WR L1 syntonization with SyncE characteristics, the results are expected to be potentially useful/interesting for P1588 High Accuracy work. The document is available here.

PTP revision process officially started
added by Maciej Lipinski on 2013-01-24 17:45:40.784807
The revision process of IEEE1588 (PTP) standard is officially starting to take place. The Call for Participants has been sent. It calls for participation in a Study Group to develop the Project Authorization Request (preliminary description of the changes to be included in the revision).
CERN will participate in the revision process with an objective to include White Rabbit into PTPv3 as a set of High Accuracy options and profile.
WR proposed to be included into PTPv3
added by Maciej Lipinski on 2012-10-11 09:06:02.863249
ISPCS2012 conference is the PTP conference. Since WR extends PTP, it is very important for the project.
At the conference, WR was very visible thanks to as many as 3 WR-related regular papers which were presented and our participation in the PlugFest.
This year, the ISPCS conference was an opportunity for the PTP community to decide on the shape of the upcoming PTP standard revision. Wouldn't it be nice to include WR into PTPv3?
During the Special Session of ISPCS2012 conference, White Rabbit was
proposed to be included into the PTP standard within the upcoming
revision
(presentation,
proposal
paper).
The proposal was well received and chances are that White Rabbit will
become an implementation of the High Accuracy Profile using High
Accuracy Optional Clause, both included into PTPv3.
Temperature tests in an environmental chamber performed
added by Maciej Lipinski on 2012-09-12 09:02:04.890158
White Rabbit (WR) is designed to compensate changes of the temperature
of the physical medium (e.g. fiber). It has been tested and proven that
such a compensation works
(here) .
However, since WR was presented to ITU-T in March 2012, the influence of
WR devices' temperature variation on the
synchronization performance of the system has been debated. The
preparation of an article which describes the performance of the first
deployment of WR-base system in the CERN Neutrino to Gran Sasso (CNGS)
time transfer, was a very good excuse to perform environmental tests of
White Rabbit.
The results of the performed temperature tests are included in Toruture Report
WR submission accepted for the Special Session of ISPCS2012
added by Maciej Lipinski on 2012-07-10 08:56:17.905298
The Special Session of
ISPCS2012 is devoted to
the revision of IEEE1588-2008 standard. In other words,
all the proposals/suggestions for changes to be included in version 3 of
the PTP standard will be presented there.
The WR submission proposes to incorporate White Rabbit into PTPv3 as a
High accuracy extension/option/profile. The paper has been accepted and
the final version
is to be submitted by 25th July. It can be found here:

Any feedback/comments are welcome.
