October 2014 Second Batch Series Production
added by John Molendijk on 2015-04-29 18:03:25.706787
A second batch of 10 additional modules was being received and tested.
One module out of 10 was inoperable.
February 2014 First Series Production
added by John Molendijk on 2015-04-29 18:00:29.018976
A series production of 25 VXS-DSP-FMC Carrier modules intended for the
PSB Booster and for MedAustron was being received and tested.
Of these modules 5 had issues, the rest is operational.

added by John Molendijk on 2015-04-29 17:49:03.106093
A third version of the VXS-DSP-FMC Carrier was launched after a series of tests with the V2. The pre-series of V2 prototype boards already achieved full functionality but required minor hardware tweaks to be functional.
Major changes to go from V2 to V3:
- Mount a gate capacitor for the FMC P3V3 power-supply pass FET to slow-down the switch on and reduce the power-supply transient.
- Bug-fix on JTAG that now makes the embedded ACE player remote configuration operational. The JTAG chain is now not passed through the RTM any longer.
- Some routing improvements on the supply current measurement tracks that make the measurements more precise.
- Changes the DSP ICE connector for a SAMTEC type that has pin 3 removed by default. This is required by the DSP ICE cable as a key.

added by John Molendijk on 2015-04-29 17:35:15.081357
A second version of the VXS-DSP-FMC Carrier was launched after a series of tests with the V1.
Main issues addressed by this new release are:
- DSP ICE JTAG connector pattern mirror image correction
- Change of FMC FPGA type from XC5VLX110T-1FFG1136C to XC5VSX95T-1FFG1136C to get 10x more DSP resources for FMC IP cores
- Add another XCF32PFS48C prom to support the new FPGA type
- Bug fixes in power connections
- Change power inductor L8 for one with a 5A rating.
- Bug fixes in JTAG chain
- Front panel now of type ELMA 26D604-6 (with easy insertion / extraction handles)
- Bug fix polarity reversal of GTP TX X0Y4_TX0 and X0Y6_TX0
- Bug fix I2C pull-up resistors of buses Main2F0 and Main2F2 must be powered from P2V5

The PCB layout of the VXS-DSP-FMC Carrier V1 prototype (EDMS:
EDA-02281-V1.0) has been finished on July 21th 2011.
The layout process had been started march 18th 2011 but was initially
found to be unroutable due to excessive real-estate usage.
The design has therefore been split in 2 parts such that the bulk of
switch-mode regulators are now placed on the accompanying rear
transition module: VXS-DSP-RTM (EDMS: EDA-02306-V1-0). Apart from these
powersupply functions the VXS-DSP-RTM also offers 16 versatile general
purpose logic inputs (programmable 50 Ohm or pull-up) that can be used
to interface with the CTRV timing module (50 Ohm TTL out) or accomodate
opto-coupled signals from another system. The VXS-DSP-RTM also offers 8
logic outputs capable of driving into a 50 Ohm load and furthermore one
Power-cycle reset input that can be driven from an external floating
contact.
This companion board is a standard VME 160 mm deep RTM. The VXS-DSP-RTM
prototype has been received from the cabling office on the August 2nd
2011.
