Suggestions for improving schematics readability
I have a bunch of "quasi-cosmetic" suggestions.
-
Change the name "Helper" of the secondary Si571 to something more generic, less WR-related. Some suggestions:
- Si57x_1 / Si57x_2
- Si57x_PRI / Si57x_SEC
- Si57x_LVDS / Si57x_CMOS
-
Oscillators are numbered 1, 3 and 4. There's a gap on OSC2. Something similar happens with PLLDAC_OUT1 and PLLDAC_OUT3 nets.
-
I would personally prefer moving OSC4 to the same sheet of OSC1 and OSC3 and rename the sheet to Clocks or Oscillators. Classifying OSC1 and OSC3 as White Rabbit clocks sounds a bit misleading to me, since they are much more versatile than that. Maybe a short note could be added on this proposed Oscillators sheet saying that these clocks enable the board to implement a WR endpoint.

Typo on a comment in sheet 3: "Slock_WR.SchDoc"

There are nets called VADJ1_I[01..06] for FMC1 and PVADJ2_IO[8..11] for FMC2. They should be standardized. Moreover, they have a different naming convention when compared with other remaining pins, like IO25_33, IO0_33, IO17N_32, IO17P_32. My suggestion is to follow the same standard everywhere. So, for instance,
- VADJ1_IO1 -> IO13P_35
- VADJ1_IO3 -> IO19P_34
- PVADJ2_IO8 -> IO19P_14
- etc.
Or any other standard that could be used throughout the schematics.
-
To standardize names, PLL_VADJ2_DAC_SCLK and PLL_VADJ2_DAC_DIN nets should have VADJ2 as prefix, like VADJ2_PLL_DAC_SCLK and VADJ2_PLL_DAC_DIN.
-
Harness names PORT2_MGT and PORT3_MGT could also be simplified to PORT2 and PORT3.
-
Can we entirely remove sheet 25 (Port2&3.SchDoc)? It seems it has no use now that the optional routing to Port 3 and SATA connectors were removed. Maybe some optionally mounted capacitors on Port2 are not useful anymore?
-
On sheet 6 (FPGA_SDRAM.SchDoc) there are some blue labels starting by "DM". Seems like they were left over at some point.
-
On sheet 20 (RTM_CON.SchDoc) there are some floating labels (CLK_EXT_N and CLK_EXT_P), apparently with no meaning
-
Apparently the EEPROM has moved from sheet 19 (Thermometers.SchDoc) to sheet 26 (RTCE.SchDoc) but the label "EEPROM" on the title has not moved accordingly. Sheet 19 seems to be exclusively to thermometers, while RTCE has RTC EEPROM plus general purpose EEPROM (64k).
