nanoFIP configuration
Q:* The configuration of the number of bytes uses three bits, but there are only 6 combinations listed, what actually happens in the other 2 states?
A:* By specification this should not happen! Use only the valid, defined combinations.
Q:* The speed is set using two bits, but there are only three combinations, what happens in the “do not use” condition?
A:* By specification this should not happen! Use only the valid, defined combinations.
Q:* Are the external configuration pins sampled on initialisation or
can they be changed during operation?
-- if fixed, what happens during the reconfiguration of user
electronics - can the MID and CID change?
-- if not fixed, how is consistency ensured?
Similarly, w hat happens if you toggle/change SLONE during operation?
A:* To increase robustness under radiation, nanoFIP configuration is
continuously being checked during data reception/transmission.
By specification it is not expected to be changed on the fly.
However, simulation and tests on hardware show that nanoFIP adapts to
the new configuration on the fly; depending on the moment the
reconfiguration occurs frames may be lost!
