VMR-DIO-24CH-DCI project
Project Description
Background
The aim of this project is to distribute dry contact input signal states
across a wide geographical area, using an Ethernet-based White Rabbit
network.
This optical fibre network will be characterised by a distributed
approach and emphasis will be on reducing length of transmission lines
between the dry contact switches and the acquisition
points.
Proposed system
- System will be based on a SVEC board with gateware to accommodate new System.
- Most of the new hardware components will be added in the form of a new purpose-built RTM, connected to the SVEC board through the VMC P2 port.
- In addition to the LEMO connectivity for external conditions signals, the RTM panel should include some means for visual (or audio) diagnosis, such as LEDs.
- The system is then connected to the White Rabbit fibre-optic timing network and signals are routed via dedicated White Rabbit network to allow for a more distributed network.
