VMR-DIO-24CH-DCI project
Project Description
Background
The aim of this project is to distribute dry contact input signal states
across a wide geographical area, using an Ethernet-based White Rabbit
(WR) network.
Hardware with a set number of input channels (24 channels , but this may
still change), will be used to acquire the input signals, and then
transmit these to
operators.
Main Requirements
- LEMO 2-pin connector for dry contact inputs (DCIs).
- Minimal length transmission lines from DCIs.
- Networking nodes will collect and transmit DCIs.
- Diagnostic tools to detect faulty inputs.
Proposed system
A block diagram of the proposed system is shown above.
- 24 input channels (May change to 12).
- Rear transition module or RTM, (See hardware project).
- RTM connected to the SVEC board via VMC P2 port.
- RTM i/p panel includes visual (LED) diagnosis
- Robust fail safe operation.
- Connect to White Rabbit via SVEC SFP port.
- Gateware for RTM to SVEC, SVEC to WR (Tx) and WR to SVEC (Rx).
