V3 - Mounting of SFP Cages
The GSI Timing Team also received the comment that the SFP cages represent some risk of injury, since they look out of the housing significantly. The question is, if the cages could be retracted a bit to the inside of the housing. I have compared to the SFP cage of the SCU, which is retracted by about 3mm compared to the V3 switch.
Retracting the SFP cages might also be beneficial from the mechanical point of view, since the torque/force to the PCB is reduced when when inserting/removing SFPs.
Mechanically, this can't be done without changing the PCB layout. So this is only a wish to be considered when the PCB undergoes a revision sometimes in the future.
