Eva G.* gave a presentation on
nanoFIP’s progress.
Copies of the Preliminary Irradiation Test
Report and of the last (1.4)
version of nanoFIP's functional
specification were distributed.
Discussion after the presentation:*
Commenting on the radiation tests, Thijs mentions that most probably the JTAG of the ProASIC3 stopped functioning at around 130 Gy because of the charge pump circuit; he mentions that that has been the reason why the PH department decided not to work with ProASIC3s.
Jens* has designed a first board and he is expecting a prototype within June. He has been facing some difficulties with using the existing microcontroller to access nanoFIP’s WISHBONE interface. The expected board implements a first draft approach to the problem and will not be used in any installation; a further version will most probably have a different approach. Erik suggests the HT section to participate to a design review for the next designs.
Eva C.* decided not to use nanoFIP for the moment as there are no errors seen in the current system.
Giovanni’s* team is planning to start developing for the RadMons in June.
Julien* has placed an order for the development of the nanoFIPDIAG to HLP and is expecting a first prototype at Q3 2011.
Arend* says that PO would start designing in the beginning of 2012 and Gonzalo for the Cryo would start this year.
Erik* asks the users if they could estimate the amount of ProASIC3 chips they would need and if they would be interested in a massive purchase of components. Javier stresses that the idea would be asking Actel to reserve a batch of components, performing the qualification of the batch with radiation tests and then making the purchase. Gonzalo remarks that he would be interested in adding to the purchase the chips that he would use for his user application; Arend* is interested in that too. Gonzalo and Arend could soon give a first estimation of the amounts needed, but Jens, Eva C. and Giovanni are not sure yet.
